Law firm Andrew Jackson is to host a workshop offering advice and support on accessing export markets, getting the right finance and ensuring prompt payment.
Aimed at new and existing exporters in the Humber region the workshop, which takes place at the firm’s Marina Court office in Hull on 19 May, is being held in partnership with the World Trade Centre Hull and Humber, UK Trade & Investment and UK Export Finance as part of UK Export Week (18-22 May).
David Lilley, UK Trade and Investment’s Humber manager, will advise on accessing overseas markets and how existing exporters can increase their market share in line with the Government’s export target of £1 trillion by 2020.
Andrew Jackson’s senior partner, Dominic Ward, who is head of shipping and transport at the firm, will offer practical advice on overcoming legal barriers such as how letters of credit and bills of lading work together to ensure exporters get paid.
Rounding off the workshop will be Paul Wright, an advisor at UK Export Finance, who will provide an overview of Government-backed support available to UK based exporters, which is designed to help overcome financial barriers to export by accessing funds or enabling the exporter's bank to provide funding.
Mr Ward, who is also a director of the World Trade Centre Hull and Humber, said: "The timing of our workshop is ideal, since the current economic climate and opportunities in the Humber region mean that this is a great time to consider exporting.
“Our event will be of interest to existing exporters who require practical help and support on a range of key issues - but we can also help to get new exporters on the right track too,” he added.
The workshop begins at 8.30am, with registration and bacon sandwiches from 8am. Whilst it is free to attend, places will be strictly limited, so please book your place by emailing events@andrewjackson.co.uk or by contacting Rea Cunningham on 01482 601281.
