Tradepark Ltd has appointed Brian Freestone as Communities Director. Brian will be responsible for the firm’s K2 development, Hull’s new £6m multi-functional living and workspace complex located at the former Kingston House premises in Bond Street.
Originally from South Africa, Brian spent 27 years in the hotel industry, managing hotel operations and developments for some of the world’s most established chains, such as Holiday Inn and Best Western. Most recently, Brian has worked in the commercial space sector, both as a business centre manager and an area manager, covering offices across the Humber region.
Mark Butters, Director at Tradepark Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Brian to the team. His experience in the property sector, combined with his connections and in-depth knowledge of the local commercial scene, will be invaluable in attracting tenants to K2.”
Brian Freestone added: “K2 is a wonderful project to be involved with and will bring something unique to East Yorkshire’s commercial space market. It’s exciting to see the development evolve and we’ve already secured some great deals and welcomed new tenants on board.”
K2 will incorporate flexible office and co-working space, 14 luxury serviced apartments, a 100-bed hotel, and retail and leisure space, with plans to include a restaurant, gym, bar and a café with rooftop terrace. The 90,000sq ft development has been inspired by contemporary, flexible co-working spaces, serviced offices and apartments in neighbourhoods of New York and East London.
Workspaces
Available in sizes from 12m2 to 100m2, K2’s serviced offices will have a dedicated reception service and a business lounge, meeting rooms, breakout space and parking facilities. The community workspaces will have cost-effective, flexible-term memberships, including fixed desk and hot-desk options. The individuals, entrepreneurs, consultants and freelancers who use this space will also have 24/7 secure access to the building, as well as use of meeting rooms, a reception service, breakout spaces and kitchen facilities.
Serviced apartments
K2 will be home to 14 spacious one and two-bedroom serviced apartments. They will provide the comfort and flexibility of an apartment, with the service and support of a high-end hotel, for those visiting the city on business or for leisure.
Hotel
With 100 beds, K2’s stylish, luxury hotel will provide affordable quality and comfort from one of the UK’s leading hotel operators (to be announced).
Retail & leisure
K2 will house a fully-equipped gym and outdoor workout space on the terrace at the top of the tower. There will also be a café and bar incorporating rooftop terrace space, to provide al fresco drinking and dining (subject to planning). Hull’s long-established Italian restaurant Operetta will remain in the complex.
Tradepark Ltd purchased Kingston House via NPS in August. Work began on site in September via principal contractors MLS Group. The first serviced apartments will be available from January 2018.
