Time is running out to submit entries for the 2013 Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards – the REYTAs – but city centre businesses could mount a strong challenge if they can hit the deadline.
Kathryn Shillito, HullBID City Centre Manager, said: “The deadline for nominations is Monday 14 January and we hope businesses will make the effort because we think Hull has a terrific tourism story to tell.”
Two of HullBID’s own city centre events will be nominated going under the Remarkable Tourism Experience/Event category. Hull Trinity Festival featured some of the region’s finest musical talent in an action-packed weekend which covered 16 venues in the Old Town. HullBID Fashion Week event proved more popular than ever with a vast increase in exhibitors and visitor numbers.
Other categories include tourism services such as accommodation, food and drink, business tourism and sustainability.
Kathryn added: “We decided to enter two of our main events and we would like to see individual businesses take part as well.”
“It is important to note that just by taking part businesses can attract considerable publicity for their products and services, and that in itself can help to generate more trade in the future.”
Judging will take place early 2013 and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday 14 March at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel at Willerby.
