Culture and Cup Final hold the keys to a better networking DNA
Culture and Cup Final hold the keys to a better networking DNA
22 May, 2014

City of Culture coupled with Cup Final heartache will be harnessed to underline the importance of your networking DNA by a speaker who promises to deliver something different to Humber Business Week.

Bob Spence will bring in topical examples to demonstrate the importance of using such a major event as City of Culture to build business. With Hull City’s FA Cup Final heroics still fresh in the memory and the World Cup on the way he will also take a football twist to show the potential of networking.

Bob, who was educated in South Africa and is the author of “The Executive Programme in Professional & Business Networking”, will speak at the “Get Ready for City of Culture” event which is organised by HullBID and will take place from 5.30pm until 7.30pm at the Holiday Inn Hull Marina Hotel on Wednesday June 4th.

The same event will feature Tamsin Fox-Davies, an acknowledged UK authority on the commercial use of social media, who will focus on testimonial marketing using social media and the City of Culture. Admission is free of charge.

Bob said: “I will talk about the concept of having the right DNA in your network. I will use Arsene Wenger as the model for successful networking DNA, and we'll explain we’ll take a light-hearted look at why England may never win the World Cup again until they improve the network DNA of the senior team.

“Our City of Culture focus will be about how to use the occasion to make new connections rather than celebrate with existing ones. We will emphasise how critical it is to use the opportunity of City of Culture because the local economy is arguably too fragile to rely on for the start-ups that are being generated.

“It is important to link with more prosperous areas that generate cash flow and I will look at two or three different ways of using City of Culture to build commercially prosperous networking DNA.”

Kathryn Shillito, HullBID City Centre Manager, said: “HullBID’s networking events are proving increasingly popular and this one promises to be particularly lively.

“Having seen Bob’s performances all we can say is that the audience can expect something rather more dynamic than a presentation with an exchange of business cards at the end!

Delegates can expect a high degree of interaction as Bob spells out the importance of focusing on the quality of your network rather than the quantity.”

Admission is free and includes a buffet but places are limited to 70 (tickets are restricted to two per business).  To book please call 01482 611850 or email Francesca@hullbid.co.uk (please note that this event has now taken place).
