First Hull Trains look for the most fashionable passenger during London Fashion Week
18 February, 2014

Passengers on First Hull Trains are being advised to dress stylishly before they board its services between Hull and London this week.

The company’s train managers are doubling up as on-board “Style Spotters” between Friday, February 14 and Tuesday, February 18, to coincide with London Fashion Week. The crew will be in search of the most chic passenger traveling during that time, ultimately raising the profile of the internationally-renowned week of style.

The winner of its on-board competition will receive two tickets to the London Fashion Weekend, the only related event which is open to the public, on Saturday, February 22. London Fashion Weekend – which takes place at the magnificent Somerset House – is an opportunity to experience trend-setting catwalk shows and pick up some style advice from a host of famous British brands. The winner will receive two tickets to the event plus return travel from any of the stations on First Hull Trains’ route (Hull, Brough, Howden, Selby, Doncaster, Retford, Grantham and Stevenage).

Danielle Byford, 24, of Bristol Road, west Hull, works for bookmaker William Hill and was traveling on First Hull Trains to go to a training day in Doncaster when she was style spotted.

“I think this is a great idea,” she said. “You don’t hear much about London Fashion Week locally, so I think this is a good way of raising the profile of it in Hull. It’s good that it’s being done in the run up to Hull’s own fashion week too.

“Other passengers should definitely make sure they dress to impress over the next week, I’m just glad they caught me on a good day. I was very flattered that they approached me as part of the competition.

”Will Dunnett, managing director at First Hull Trains, said: “This is a chance for our passengers who are interested in fashion to have some fun – and there’s the chance of a great prize too.

“We’ve worked hard to establish a service from Hull to London that delivers high quality and great value. I am extremely grateful to our customers for choosing to travel with First Hull Trains and this is just one way in which we would like to give a little something back, whilst raising the profile of another great reason to travel to the capital city.”

Kathryn Shillito, HullBID City Centre Manager, said: “Hull Trains have come up with an innovative and fun way to recognise the fashionistas utilising their service whilst promoting London Fashion Week.

“Our very own HullBID Fashion Week is taking place from 27 April to 3 May delivering a wide range of activity to showcase local fashion and beauty retailers all based in the city centre, many of whom offer niche products unavailable elsewhere, even in London!”

London Fashion Weekend’s Designer Catwalk schedule features a stellar line up including: Julien Macdonald, Amanda Wakeley, Farhi by Nicole Farhi and Maria Grachvogel. There is no parking available on site, so travelling on First Hull Trains is the ideal solution for many people.

Calling at Hull, Brough, Howden, Selby, Doncaster, Retford and Grantham, the organisation continues to strengthen its position as the transport operator of choice between Hull and London King’s Cross.
