Christmas is coming to the Fruit Market with a packed day of festive fun for all the family.
The Fruit Market community is pulling out all the stops for the Ho! Ho! Ho! Humber Street! event on Saturday 4th December, from 12pm to 5pm.
It features a packed programme of activities including street entertainment, walkabout acts, a Christmas-themed pop-up pub and a spectacular laser show finale, lighting up Humber Street.
The fun-filled occasion will see revellers entertained with a Christmas choir, stilt walkers, bubble-blowing fairies, twirling dancers, face painting and an appearance from Father Christmas himself.
The Airie Fairies bubbleologists from Hull-based Aba Daba Circus will wow the crowds with their floating, wobbling bubble creations. They’ll be joined by the Snow-I-Deer stilt walkers mingling with visitors to the Fruit Market – a perfect opportunity for selfies!
Dancing duo Tamar and Jo will be performing doorstep dances throughout the afternoon. These sparkling dances set to cheesy Christmas pop will put even the biggest Grinch in the party mood.
Christmas-themed pop-up pub, Mistletoe & Wine, will be open from 7pm for seasonal tipples in the former Humber Fruit Brokers warehouse and Christmas tunes will be top of their playlist to get visitors well and truly in the seasonal spirit.
You can also refuel at the Juniper Gin caravan for a warming glass of mulled wine, gin or cider and why not pick up a delicious mince pie from artisan bakers Flour & Feast?
Hull comedy duo Jed and Gary will be creating mayhem and madness and flinging pies. The pair love spreading mischief with their fun and games.
Look out too for a pantomime horse trotting along the cobbles with performers from Middle Child theatre company. They’ll be showcasing their new pantomime, Rapunz’ull - a rock ‘n’ roll take on the classic fairytale, which is showing at events venue Social on Humber Street.
Another highlight is the launch of Hull-based Friends on Every Street’s new pop-up store on Humber Street, which will be packed with the cult fashion icon’s merchandise, just perfect to kickstart your Christmas shopping.
A show-stopping 10-minute laser light show will light up Humber Street at around 5pm to round off the event, with visitors encouraged to make the most of the area’s evening entertainment.
There’ll be additional surprises during the day with Humber Street’s independent shops, salons, bars and restaurants joining in to make for a really fun day out for people of all ages – there’s nowhere better than the Fruit Market to make merry!
