The Hull branch of in2wrk has delivered more qualifications than anywhere else in 2017, according to the well-known adult training provider.
Last year, an amazing 614 free qualifications were awarded in English, maths and IT to adult learners in the city - a figure almost double the number achieved in the seven other in2wrk centres in the UK.
But company spokesperson Jack Johnson, though delighted with the news, wasn’t surprised that the Hull centre came out on top in 2017.
“For a while we’ve been developing a reputation in the local community for delivering adult training that has a positive effect on people’s lives,” Jack explained.
“People come to us for various reasons: the long-term unemployed, those who’ve just been made redundant and others who just need a qualification quickly - we’ve been able to help them all.”
During the last year, in2wrk moved to Shirethorn House on Prospect Street, a much larger premises in the heart of Hull city centre, with the aim of helping more people improve their numeracy, literacy and digital skills and all-round career prospects. And, less than a year later, that very learning centre has been recognised as the best in the country for delivering nationally-recognised qualifications.
Although there are a number of reasons why people have been choosing the popular adult training provider - namely how quickly people can start their learning and the fact that every course is totally free - Jack thinks its growing reputation might be down to a couple of other reasons.
“Everyone who comes to our centre speaks very highly of the learning environment and the staff,” Jack said.
“We know that compared to other training environments we’re very relaxed, our learners actually want to be with us and everyone is extremely friendly. We even provide free tea and biscuits, as well!”
