Hull College is working with Humber Street Sesh to support creative talent of the future at the event’s biggest ever line-up.
The college has supported Sesh since it started six years ago and is proud to be a major partner as the festival expands to be better than ever this year.
The partnership includes sponsorship of the festival’s The 'Spiders From Mars' Big Top stage and the Youth Stage.
Working backstage throughout the two-day event will be a team of students from the college who will get the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the production green room.
Michelle Swithenbank, CEO of Hull College Group, said: “It is fantastic that our students will benefit from being involved in this homegrown arts event this summer.
“This hands-on experience will help them develop the skills they need to get the jobs they want.
“We’re delighted to have been involved with the development of Sesh, especially as many of the performers at the festival are current or past Hull College students.”
Mark Page, Humber Street Sesh Festival Director said: “We're delighted to have the full support of Hull College at this year's festival.
“Since the conception of the festival back in 2012, Hull College has proved to be an invaluable partner, not only by supporting us with stages and other elements but also by sharing our ambition to be a talent pipeline.
“The college has provided us with us with student personnel on stage and within production who have learnt their skill sets in the classrooms of the college and transferred them successfully as part of team staging a truly unique and professional event for more than 30,000 people in the city.
“We hope to keep building on this partnership year on year."
Humber Street Sesh takes place on 3 and 4 August, and is expected to attract thousands of visitors.
Ms Swithenbank added: “We are the only city centre college and an important part of community life in the area.
“Having a presence at events like Sesh helps us attract students to our courses for 14 to 16-year-olds, school leavers, adults and those looking to study at higher education level.
“We are recruiting now and I would encourage potential new students to contact us to find out more about how they can enrol and get involved in exciting opportunities like the ones at Sesh.”
