As Covid-19 forced the UK to a halt, one local teenager was determined to remain active during such uncertain times and captured the silent streets of Hull as never seen before.

Demonstrating a true passion for photography, 15 year-old Callum Utley used his ‘lockdown exercise time’ to walk around the city with his camera and snap some fantastic shots.

The talented photographer encapsulated the true beauty of the city’s architecture during the lockdown period, with truly inspiring images that will be exhibited at Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

From 10 August, members of the public will be able to view the photographs in an exhibition unit on the East Arcade, next to Claire’s, open 10am-4pm daily.

Callum commented: “I am overwhelmed with the response I’ve had to my photographs, at the time I just wanted to keep active and as the streets looked so different to normal, wanted to make sure I created my own memories of lockdown.

“I’m really proud of the shots I’ve managed to take and everyone in the city has been so supportive, I just can’t believe I’m going to be able to exhibit some of them. I want to thank Princes Quay for giving me this opportunity to showcase them to the whole community.”

Princes Quay Marketing Manager Sarah Smith added: “Having lived in Hull all my life, seeing the photographs that Callum has captured really magnifies how beautiful the architecture is in our city. Generally, with everyday hustle and bustle we aren’t always able to appreciate the buildings and landmarks we have right on our doorstep. We wanted to support all the hard work and passion gone into the photographs and showcase the fantastic images for everyone to enjoy.”

The exhibition is free of charge and will be open to members of the public until Wednesday 30 September.
