Leading law firm Andrew Jackson continues its regional growth with a number of new appointments, including Philip Ashworth, one of the best known corporate lawyers in Yorkshire.
Mr Ashworth, who moves from his role as a partner at Bond Dickinson, will be based predominantly at Andrew Jackson's York office, a city where he ran his own firm Philip Ashworth & Co prior to its merger with Dickinson Dees in 2007. However, Mr. Ashworth has many clients and professional contacts in Hull and so will also be spending time working out of Andrew Jackson's head office at Marina Court, Hull.
Mr Ashworth is a well known and respected figure in the Yorkshire corporate finance market, having advised on a wide range of deals including the sale of Energas in Hull to Air Liquide; the acquisition of Uquifa, a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Spain and Mexico for Indian conglomerate, Vivimed; and the sale of the UK and Irish manufacturing assets of Finnish chemicals group, Dynea.
Also joining Andrew Jackson's growing team are commercial property partner Helen Mellors, who has over 25 years' commercial property experience, tax consultant Fiona Phillips and paralegal Grace Howell, with further appointments already lined up for later in the year.
Mr Ashworth said: “I am delighted to be joining Andrew Jackson and its ambitious partnership. I'm obviously looking forward to helping the firm develop its practice in York and the North Yorkshire region but its reputation and profile in Hull and East Yorkshire is also a perfect fit with my existing contacts and client base, and I'm particularly pleased to be joining a firm with such a strong, regional presence.”
Mark Pearson-Kendall, managing partner of Andrew Jackson said: “Philip is a significant addition to Andrew Jackson. His reputation and experience in both the Hull and York market place will perfectly complement our existing business.
"I am delighted that Philip, Helen, Fiona and Grace have all chosen to join Andrew Jackson, and their combined wealth of experience will further supplement our existing corporate and commercial property offering throughout the region."
