New strategy sets out vision to promote a positively thriving city
16 January, 2013

HullBID has outlined a new strategy as it works to build on its achievements so far.

Extensive work between HullBID’s operational team and Board of Directors, along with feedback from city centre businesses, has prompted a review which will shape the organisation’s approach during the next four years.

The review sees HullBID re-focus its commitment to work “for a positively thriving city,” creating and promoting a vision of “a vibrant city of thriving businesses.”

The HullBID values are reflected by the introduction of four strategic pillars....

Communication, Promotion, Innovation, Collaboration with Board Directors taking specific responsibility for tasks which will enable them to make the most of their experience and expertise.

The Communication pillar will see HullBID work to secure recognition as a visible, vocal and active part of the business community. Promotion will involve actively raising awareness of the benefits of visiting the city centre. Innovation brings a pledge to plant and sow seeds and ideas, and Collaboration underlines HullBID’s commitment to work with partners to deal with the bigger issues that demand a collective approach.

Victoria Jackson, Chairman of HullBID, said: “We know that HullBID is seen by organisations within the BID area as a valued partner in making the city centre a better place in which to do business.”

“This is because we take the time to really understand what is needed to drive business prosperity, and we have the skills and the commitment to bring together everyone in the district to make it happen.”

“The reason we exist is to help businesses in the city sustainably grow and progress.”

Kathryn Shillito, HullBID City Centre Manager, is working with her team to inform businesses of the detail of the new strategy.

“Our vision of a vibrant city of thriving businesses is based on the words that HullBID members have been using during the interviews and surveys which formed part of our research,” said Kathryn.

“It is also a reminder to us of what we are aiming to achieve. But the overall strategy reflects our awareness that we cannot do the job on our own. We need to work in partnership with other city stakeholder groups and the business community, and that’s what we will do.”
