Northern rapper Luke Chambers and BBC Radio Humberside presenter Lizzie Rose have been unveiled as the faces of Hull Fashion Week 2014.
The pair launched the build-up to the event by donning designer outfits from city centre retailers. They will also bring down the curtain on a week of fashion-related activities when they present the finale at Hull City Hall on Saturday 3 May.
Hull Fashion Week, which is organised by HullBID, is now in its fifth year and is established as the city’s biggest style event, attracting thousands of people into the city centre from across the region.
The activity will begin on Saturday 26 April and will feature demonstrations and displays from large and small businesses operating in the fashion sector, including Hull’s three main shopping centres, the major department stores, independent clothing retailers, hair salons and beauty parlours.
Kathryn Shillito, HullBID City Centre Manager, said: “We know from experience that big events are very important when it comes to attracting people into Hull city centre. We have worked hard in recent years to develop our events programme and Hull Fashion Week is one of the great success stories.
“Feedback from every event shows that Hull Fashion Week is not just about the people who live in the city. It attracts fashion fans and trend-setters of all ages from across the region and creates a real buzz.
“It also showcases what the fashion and beauty retailers in Hull city centre have to offer. And it is important to remember that the people working in that industry also come from across the region, bringing quality and creativity to the shops and salons.
“Once again we have selected one of Hull’s iconic buildings for our finale. We used Holy Trinity Church on two occasions and last year put up a catwalk in Paragon Station. This year we’ll be at Hull City Hall with two rising stars of the local culture and media scene for what promises to be a fantastic finale at the end of an amazing week.”
Lizzie, who presents the Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Humberside alongside Carl Wheatley, grew up in Cottingham and has also worked for Sky Sports.
Luke, better known as Nineties Boy, burst onto the music scene in 2011 with the release of Chip On My Shoulder and is currently working on a new EP.
