St Stephen’s, Hull’s most stylish shopping destination, has been awarded the industry’s coveted Safety performance award 2014 in the Humberside Occupational Health & Safety Group (HOHSG) awards. The award comes in recognition of its first-class safety performance and for the various improvements it has made to its working environment over the past year.
The St Stephen’s Customer Service and Health and Safety team St Stephen’s Centre Manager Jim Harris says: “The St Stephen’s security and customer service teams are frequently commended by retailers, customers and other stakeholders including the local police on the management of the centre. We’re delighted that our efforts have been recognised, but equally the creation of a safe and secure destination for our customers is what we do at St Stephen’s – putting the customer first to make sure they have the best possible experience when they’re with us.”
Humberside Police officer, PCSO Whelan also commended the team, saying: “The security team at the St Stephens play a very central role in making Hull a safe and pleasant place to visit, the team are dedicated, professional and make our role policing the city centre a much easier task.”
During the past year the team has significantly reduced the amount of attempted thefts in the centre, contributing to the creation of a widely-regarded safe and secure shopping centre that delivers an excellent customer experience. The distinctive customer service team is also equipped to help partially or non-sighted shoppers and to professionally manage serious and often life-threatening situations.
Shawn Chapman, Facilities Manager for Incentive FM, St Stephen’s security team, says: “The safety and security of the centre and the people within it are of paramount importance to us. This is why we go above and beyond our regulatory duties to make sure that safety and service is at the centre of everything we do.”
