It’s a terrific two minutes, even if some of the images seem like they were shot a lifetime ago.
Not City of Culture from 2017, and not Hull City’s first Wembley win in 2008, but some of the simple everyday things that many of us took for granted just a couple of months ago.
Queen Victoria Square and Princes Street both now deserted. Hull Minster with a solitary visitor. The Maritime Museum, empty but excitement awaits as we anticipate what will be in store after their massive makeover.
There’ll be a bustle about Hepworth’s Arcade and Paragon Arcade, pivotal in the rise of the city centre’s independent businesses, and parties in the street with water features, torchlit processions and music, dancing in the dark and the daylight.
The warmest welcome awaits in our wonderful hotels, the tables are set in our superb restaurants and a touch of style will return to our boutiques and boulevards.
“We know a place… waiting for you” is a snapshot of a city centre ready to reawaken, developing the themes first showcased last year by HullBID and Visit Hull in a partnership campaign and now presented as moving pictures – moving indeed!
It’s an uplifting, inviting and, in parts, exhilarating reminder of the delights which we can enjoy once again in our city centre if we are patient for a little longer.
Please take a look and share it far and wide. We’ll be ready when you are and, in the meantime, #StaySafe
